Introducing the IPWatchdog Social Network

I am pleased to announce that we have started a Social Network as a part of IPWatchdog.com. To join please visit:

IPWatchdog Social Network

http://network.ipwatchdog.com

To be perfectly honest, I am not sure what to expect, but over the last several months I have been trying to figure out ways to meaningfully connect readers and those interested in patents, innovation, copyrights, trademarks and more.  The particular focus started out with trying to provide a platform for local Inventor Groups to be able to announce their meetings and share information with members and prospective members.  I believe the IPWatchdog.com Social Network will be able to facilitate that, and many other things, so we will just see where this all leads.

The Network also includes a forum, list of upcoming events, allows for the creation of member groups, participate in live online chats and allows members to submit news stories, which others can comment on and vote up and down.  My hope is that those with related blogs will submit content they create there, providing a title, link to the full article and a couple sentence teaser.  I also hope members will submit interesting, topical news stories they find as well.  Of course, the Network also allows for easy Twitter integration and a whole lot more.

Signing up is free and you get a profile page that you can customize as you like.  You can write blog entries that will be shared on the Network pages, and if I see good things there I will bring them over to the IPWatchdog.com blog, with proper permissions and giving full credit, of course.

So whether you are an inventor, attorney, industry professional, artist or just somehow interested in intellectual property, I hope you consider joining and participating in our network. I have no problem with people using the network to promote themselves or their businesses, that is one thing social networks are very good for.  I also have no problem with promoting events, CLEs and meetings, which is one of the reasons I wanted to have this Network to begin with.  I will endeavor to keep it clear of obvious commercial spam that serves no purpose and/or is not related to any relevant topics.  I will also work to keep the Network clear of things that are offensive and/or inappropriate.  If you see anything like that please let me know.

I am sure over time the Network will grow, change and mature.  I am looking forward to the ride and hope you will all consider joining the network and interacting.  It should be a lot of fun.

This is a great idea. Patent law and IP in general need more social networking opportunities. Your obvious dedication to the field is much appreciated.
