It's been about six months since then -- can we have an update about what the final verdict was and where this company stands now?

Anonymous-

I bought 500 shares of PARD yesterday and will hold on to it for now and see what happens. I felt like I couldn't write this and not have some skin in the game, although the earnings were a surprise on the negative side. It does seem that they have leveled off for now at this range, even with negative earnings. The positive Phase 2 prostate cancer results are good, and with colorectal treatment patents there may be some reason for optimism moving forward. If they raise more money that would dilute value, but as long as they stay at this level and without more negative news I would anticipate a run up in optimism as they move forward into Phase 3. If you bought in October 2009 I would definitely hold on. Biotech stocks are not for the faint of heart and negative Phase 3 news really kills value, but as long as they stay in business (which I suspect they will) there should be another run up of optimism. And as far as negative Phase 3 news goes, it wasn't really that negative. The drug enhanced survival rates by 11%, so at least it didn't do harm, so I suspect there will be further research and efforts. The value of the company will depend on whether their treatments really offer an advantage. Doing no harm is not enough for value, but it does suggest (at least to me) that hope is not lost, particularly on the heals of the prostate Phase 2 positive results.

For my first real foray into picking I probably should profiled GenVec, Inc. (NASDAQ: GNVC). I bought 1,000 shares at $2.4799 and another 1,000 today at $3.2699. They have a ton of patents and seems like encouraging news coming out little by little, which suggests it really is positive news. They have earnings later this week and a presentation about their research next week. This one could have legs. I am working on an article about them presently, but with so many patents it will take a while to give a meaningful snapshot. In the meantime their technical data and trending looks quite good, and they are testing their 52 week high today, which if it breaks through that could open the eyes of many.

So what was your take on the call? Are you going to be buying any shares of PARD? I still have 1,000 left from my purchases in Oct 2009. Ouch.
