Social Networking has become the most widely accepted form of networking in recent years throughout all different industries and interest groups.   The reason for this is that although social networking can be done in some forms in person, people increasingly turn to the Internet to meet many millions of other like-minded individuals that have also turned to the Internet to exchange first-hand experience, knowledge and expertise.  Social networking websites function like a community, only online. Once you find the Social Networking site you wish to use, you can often find community members that share common interests in hobbies, industry or politics.  These types of common interests often make for great icebreakers in making connections.

  1. I think the biggest thing for me has been updating my profile and creating groups as well as reaching out to people within my industry. Another important thing to do that will result in a bigger success rate is to reach out to people that are local, so you could go get a cup of coffee with them and network in person.

  2. Payday, you make an excellent point. Online marketing works best when it is added to traditional marketing techniques. Online social networking should not replace Face to Face networking. It always quite formative when you can meet someone in person, shake their hands and have eye contact when interacting. Thank you so much for reading and taking the time to comment.
