David Hricik Joins Taylor English Duma as Of Counsel

Taylor English Duma LLP is pleased to announce that David Charles Hricik has joined the firm as Of Counsel in its growing Intellectual Property practice group.

Hricik brings with him more than 25 years of experience handling patent infringement suits and complex commercial litigation. Most recently, he served as clerk to the Chief Judge of the Federal Circuit, Randall R. Rader, and now acts as a professor at Mercer University School of Law teaching Patent Law and Litigation, Ethics, and Federal Civil Procedure. He also is a nationally known speaker on patent, ethical and procedural issues.

“David’s expertise and experience handling high-stakes patent litigation and ethics matters for patent attorneys are unmatched,” said Jeffrey R. Kuester, Intellectual Property practice group co-chair. “Adding talented IP practitioners, like David, who are nationally recognized as experts in their field provides us with a significant advantage in the fast-paced Intellectual Property environment. David boosts our firm’s capabilities in providing full-service IP counsel and will provide significant value to our clients in this complex area of law.”

At Taylor English, Hricik will counsel clients on patent litigation, legal malpractice matters and complex commercial litigation and appeals. Previously, Hricik has served as counsel and an expert in malpractice and other cases involving ethical issues in patent practice, and he has served as an expert for the Office of Enrollment and Discipline at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He has also served as an expert for practitioners accused of wrongdoing by the Office of Enrollment and Discipline.

“I have had the great pleasure of working with the attorneys at Taylor English during my time at Mercer University,” said Hricik. “Not only have I observed the outstanding legal skills they bring to the table, but I have always been impressed by the client-centered approach of Taylor English. Clients come first. I look forward to working closely with the firm’s attorneys and providing effective solutions to our clients’ complex IP matters.”

Outside of his practice, Hricik has served in a number of leadership roles, including with the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the IP section of the American Bar Association, the Professional Responsibility Section of the American Association of Law Schools, and the Atlanta Intellectual Property Inn of Court. He is currently vice-chair of the Former Clerks and Law Students Committee of the Federal Circuit Bar Association. He is a member of the Georgia and Texas State Bar Associations and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and the Federal Circuit.

Hricik received his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona and his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law.
