D. Sean Trainor Joins O’Melveny as a Partner in Washington, DC

D. Sean Trainor

D. Sean Trainor, a go-to IP litigator for companies facing investigation by the International Trade Commission (ITC), has joined O’Melveny’s Washington, DC office as a partner.

A seasoned lawyer with a long track record before the ITC, Trainor has handled dozens of ITC investigations involving a broad range of relevant technologies, seeing many cases through trial. His experience spans all phases of litigation, guiding clients through administrative law judge hearings, navigating extensive discovery requirements, and formulating procedural and substantive litigation strategy. Trainor also represents clients in district court litigation and counsels clients on a variety of intellectual property and technology issues.

“As patent trolls and others increasingly use the ITC as a forum to target our technology clients, Sean’s extensive experience in this very specialized arena will be invaluable to companies facing ITC investigations,” said Bradley J. Butwin, chair of O’Melveny. “We are excited about his addition to the firm.”

Trainor earned his law degree from George Washington University Law School in 1998 and his bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University in 1995.

“I’m looking forward to joining O’Melveny’s formidable IP&T litigation practice to guide clients through a broad range of intellectual property matters,” Trainor said.
