Jeremy Richardson joins Michelman & Robinson in New York

Jeremy Richardson

Michelman & Robinson, LLP (“M&R”) is pleased to announce that Jeremy Richardson has joined the firm as a partner in its New York office. He is the latest addition to the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group.

A preeminent attorney serving the juvenile products industry, Mr. Richardson works primarily on matters concerning children’s apparel, accessories, and furniture. He has vast expertise in these areas as well as fashion law, and an array of clients have come to rely on him to advise on and litigate copyright and trademark claims and an assortment of contract disputes, including those related to purchase and sale, license, and sales representative agreements, terms and conditions of sale, and minimum advertised price policies. Mr. Richardson is also sought after by manufacturers of children’s goods to provide counsel on compliance matters, and start-ups and entrepreneurs routinely retain him to protect their intellectual property, negotiate partnerships and other business structures, and, when necessary, to handle litigation.

David Lee, head of M&R’s Intellectual Property Practice Group states, “Jeremy has had a real impact on the juvenile products industry. We feel incredibly fortunate to have him with us at M&R, and look forward to his expansion of the firm’s presence in this highly specialized area.” Says Dana Kravetz, M&R’s firm managing partner and Chair of its Hospitality Industry Group, “We pride ourselves on the reach of our intellectual property practice, which is only bolstered by Jeremy’s unique background and expertise. As we grow in New York, it’s great to add someone as highly regarded as Jeremy to our team.” For his part, Mr. Richardson adds, “I’m incredibly excited to join such a fine team, and look forward to providing practical advice to address the challenges to and opportunities for juvenile products companies.”

Beyond the boardroom and courthouse, Mr. Richardson has worked closely with the American Apparel & Footwear Association’s (AAFA) Product Safety Council since 2005, urging Congress to improve implementation of the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). His professional affiliations also extend to the Juvenile Products Manufacturers’ Association (JPMA) – he is an associate member, and the International Consumer Products Health and Safety Organization.

A graduate of Rutgers University School of Law (J.D.) and Washington University in St. Louis (B.A.), Mr. Richardson has lectured on legal and regulatory issues in the fashion industry at Parsons School of Design and Fordham Law School. His arrival at M&R coincides with that of two other partners, Scott Lyon (Orange County) and Umera Ali (Chicago).
