Matthew L. Fedowitz Joins Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney

Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney announces that Matthew L. Fedowitz has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property section as a shareholder in the firm’s Alexandria office. Fedowitz focuses his practice on helping clients in the pharmaceutical, life science and medical device fields with strategic patent portfolio development and patent prosecution, litigation in federal district court and inter partes proceedings before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

“Matt has an impressive track record and experience, especially in areas of importance to our clients, such as Hatch-Waxman Litigation and its interplay with PTAB proceedings. Prior to starting his law practice, Fedowitz worked as a patent examiner in the Biotechnology, Organic Chemistry & Pharmaceuticals division of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office where he was responsible for patent applications relating heterocyclic organic chemistry in the pharmaceutical and carbohydrate fields.

Fedowitz received his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law, his Pharm. D. from the University of Maryland and his B.S. from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is a member of the American Bar Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association, Intellectual Property Owners Association and Bar Association of the District of Columbia, of which he is a board member and former secretary. He also served as the chair of the same organization’s Intellectual property Section. He is licensed to practice in the District of Columbia, and Virginia as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Virginia Supreme Court and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He has been selected for inclusion in the IAM Patent 1000 – The World’s Leading Patent Practitioners, and named to the Virginia and Washington, D.C. Rising Stars lists.
