Chad Davis and Kassie Helm Join Dechert’s IP Life Sciences Team

New York/Boston – Leading global law firm Dechert LLP announced this week that Chad E. Davis, Ph.D. and Katherine A. (“Kassie”) Helm, Ph.D. have joined its intellectual property practice in Boston and New York, respectively, as partners and also further expanding Dechert’s global life sciences capabilities.

Chad DavisDavis utilizes his extensive scientific background in chemistry to structure strategic, complex patent portfolios – supporting clients through each phase of the patent process, from patent procurement to post-grant challenge and infringement analysis. Helm focuses her practice on representing life sciences clients in complex patent litigation and related intellectual property, antitrust, healthcare and international arbitration matters involving her scientific, medical and technical expertise.

Dechert’s intellectual property practice is focused on maximizing the commercial value of intellectual property. Its lawyers have extensive experience assisting companies with monetizing and extracting value from their IP portfolios, including managing strategic worldwide licensing campaigns and representing clients in both defensive and enforcement litigation.

Katherine HelmHelm has particular experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, representing companies in all aspects of litigation from pre-suit diligence through appeal, including Patent Office and other contested patent proceedings around the world. She also advises on related regulatory aspects of licensing, capital market transactions and counseling across the life sciences spectrum. Helm earned her J.D. cum laude from Fordham University School of Law, her M.A. and Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University and her A.B. cum laude from Princeton University.

Davis represents businesses and individuals from the chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors in patent matters pertaining to pharmaceuticals, drug delivery technologies, medical diagnostics, medical imaging, microfluidic devices, polymers, proteins, stem cell technology, adhesives, analytical chemistry, foams, cosmetics and optical technologies. He received his J.D. from Boston College Law School, his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champagne and his B.S. from Ball State University, summa cum laude.
