Former Administrative Patent Judge and Patent Attorney for Carmichael IP

Jim Carmichael is a former Administrative Patent Judge on the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences (now the Patent Trial and Appeal Board). Jim was employed by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) for eight years, including working in the electrical and computer division of the Board as an Examiner-in-Chief. Currently he represents inventors and patent challengers before the PTO in patent prosecution and inter partes review proceedings. Jim regularly serves as an expert witness on PTO prosecution and post-grant procedures. Before becoming a Judge, Jim served for five years as an Associate Solicitor of the PTO.

Kelly McNulty is the Director of IP Administrative Services at Clarivate Analytics.  She is responsible for the global operation of all docketing and paralegal engagements, supporting clients throughout the IP lifecycle.  Kelly began her career at a law firm in Minneapolis, Minnesota as part of the docketing and paralegal teams, taking on all aspects of docketing processing as well as directly assisting attorneys with Paralegal support.  From there, she moved to CPA Global, where she managed first the IP Docketing Project Team and then the IP Paralegal teams.  In her current role at Clarivate, Kelly has watched the Admin team experience exponential growth, and enjoys working with a large variety of clients located around the world.  Kelly is a graduate of the University of Minnesota.  And yes, it’s cold there.
