Edward Russavage and Matthew Grady Join Wolf Greenfield

Intellectual property law firm Wolf, Greenfield & Sacks, P.C. yesterday announced that Edward J. Russavage and Matthew H. Grady will join the firm as shareholders. Experienced counselors to companies from start-ups to multinational corporations, they bring their expertise to the firm’s Electrical and Computer Technologies Group.

edward-russavageMr. Russavage is a strategic advisor to a wide range of companies including startups, mid-range companies and multinational corporations. He provides counsel in many areas including patent protection, licensing, freedom to operate and transactions. He is a highly skilled patent counselor, having worked with many companies in developing valuable patent portfolios in fields including networking, communications, software, analog and digital circuits, instrumentation and control systems, 3D modeling and printing, optoelectronics, semiconductor design and fabrication and telecommunications. He handles freedom to operate and invalidity studies, litigation support and post-grant patent proceedings including reexamination. Before joining Wolf Greenfield, he served as a partner at Lando & Anastasi and was previously managing partner there.

matthew-gradyMr. Grady counsels clients large and small, tailoring individualized solutions that balance business needs with the development of intellectual property portfolios. He guides clients through the development of effective intellectual property-building strategies incorporating utility patents, design patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secret forms of protection. He works extensively in the U.S. and foreign jurisdictions protecting innovation in the fields of database design, implementation and optimization, medical devices, medical imaging and medical software, web-based services and augmentation, communication systems, mission-critical IT services, social networking, mechanical devices and clean energy systems. He has served as expert opinion counsel, providing critical counsel on the validity and enforceability of asserted patents. Prior to joining Wolf Greenfield, he served as counsel at Lando & Anastasi.

Mr. Russavage previously worked as an engineer in the nuclear instrumentation and control, software development, and networking areas. He has master’s degrees in computer science and electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and received his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. He is a member of the Licensing Executives Society and the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and has been named a New England Rising Star in the field of intellectual property by Super Lawyers.

Mr. Grady has made mentoring an important part of his practice, and at his previous firm created and managed a case review program for associates. He is also a founder of The Ordinary Observer ®, a design patent blog created in 2010. He has a master’s degree in computer science from Boston University, and received his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. He is a member of the Boston Patent Law Association and IEEE, and has also been named a New England Rising Star in the field of intellectual property by Super Lawyers.
