Nelles has joined the firm as a partner on the Dispute Resolution Team. Nelles will continue to serve his worldwide and industrywide clients from Berger Singerman’s Fort Lauderdale office.
Nelles focuses his practice on complex commercial and intellectual property disputes, including patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret and internet liability cases. He has successfully represented Fortune 500 companies in IP disputes as well as high-profile music entertainers and record companies in copyright and publicity litigation, while frequently working with out-of-state firms whose clients are involved in litigation in Florida. He has assisted clients with procuring trademarks and copyrights, as well as drafting license agreements. Additionally, Nelles has an extensive background in broad commercial and business litigation, including disputes arising in the areas of business defamation, real estate, banking and lending liability, professional liability and insurance.

Nelles is Board Certified by The Florida Bar in Intellectual Property Law, and is also a Registered Patent Attorney with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. He has frequently spoken on various intellectual property topics, and has been published numerous times in publications such as the Association of Corporate Counsel and the South Florida Legal Guide.
Prior to joining Berger Singerman, he was a partner at Broad and Cassel where he specialized in commercial litigation and intellectual property law, and earlier was a partner at Ruden McClosky. He was named one of 2015’s Most Effective Lawyers in the Intellectual Property categoryby Daily Business Review.
Nelles is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Federal Bar Association’s South Florida chapter. He is the past president of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Florida. Recognized by Martindale-Hubbell as an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rated attorney, Nelles is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University’s Shephard Broad Law Center, and his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Rutgers University.
