Steven Shape and Lauren Stevens Join Dennemeyer & Associates

Dennemeyer & Associates is pleased to welcome two new IP attorneys, Steven Shape as Managing Partner and Lauren Stevens, to the Chicago, United States office.  Steve and Lauren bring a wealth of patent preparation, prosecution and litigation experience to the firm.

Shape has over 30 years of IP law experience and will serve as Managing Partner. He has represented preeminent technology companies in complex, high-stakes intellectual property litigation, as well as in United States and foreign patent and trademark preparation and prosecution.  He has served as counsel in a number of jury and bench trials and has extensive experience in all aspects of Federal Court litigation including preliminary injunctions, summary judgments and appeals. Shape regularly represents clients in appeals, inter partes review and other post-grant proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. His expertise includes all areas of electronics, computer science and mechanical technologies.  He received his JD from DePaul University and his Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Stevens has 25 years of IP law experience and focuses in the areas of pharmaceuticals, assay technologies, bioinformatics and instrumentation.  She practices strategic client counseling, patent procurement and defense in the pharmaceutical area, including freedom-to-operate opinions regarding chemical and pharmaceutical patents and the management of ANDA litigation and IPRs.  Dr. Stevens frequently speaks on topics related to pharmaceutical patent law, including strategies related to the AIA, foreign filing strategies and FDA Orange Book listings.  She received her JD from Stanford Law and her Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Yale University.
