Leason Ellis Announces Addition of Robert M. Isackson

WHITE PLAINS, NEW YORKLeason Ellis LLP is pleased to announce that Robert M. Isackson has joined the firm as a Partner effective February 1, 2018. Rob built his career at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, where he was a Partner from 1995 until 2016. During Rob’s tenure, he headed Orrick’s New York IP Group from 2002 to 2008 and served as Co-Chair of its Life Science Practice from 2009 to 2013. In 2016, Rob joined Venable LLP as a Partner in the IP Litigation Practice in New York.

Rob is first and foremost an IP litigator with nine patent trials under his belt, including four as first chair. He has led trial teams in over 40 patent litigations and more than 10 non-patent IP cases and arbitrations including those in trade secret, trademark, trade dress and copyright matters. Rob also handles IP counseling and procurement work as well as transactional matters.

Rob is very active in both the New York Intellectual Property Law Association and the Intellectual Property Owners Association. He has served on the Board of Directors of the NYIPA for the past two years and he has been a member of the trade secrets and amicus brief committees of the IPO for more than seven years. He has also been a lecturer for Practicing Law Institute.

In recognition of his formidable skills and talents, Rob has been recognized in publications such as the IAM Patent 1000, IP Stars by Managing Intellectual Property, and Super Lawyers. In addition to having the top AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, Rob has also been ranked as a leading lawyer in intellectual property patent litigation by Chambers USA, The Legal 500, and Euromoney’s LMG Clean Tech/Renewable Energy IP Star.

Outside of his practice, Rob is enthusiastically involved in pro bono work, in which capacity he represents the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, an organization dedicated to helping students of Hispanic heritage to obtain a college degree; TigerCandy Arts, Inc., a micro-company that designs and custom-builds therapeutic hand sock puppets; Sports4HOPE, a group using sports and peace education to facilitate reconciliation in conflict-affected communities; the SET Foundation, dedicated to bringing industry and economic improvement to rural America; and a shelter for battered women and children in Brooklyn.
