Lathrop GPM LLP is actively seeking an experienced Technical Specialist or Patent Agent to join our Life Sciences patent group in Boston, MA.

Lathrop GPM LLP is actively seeking an experienced Technical Specialist or Patent Agent to join our Life Sciences patent group in Boston, MA. This is a full-time, permanent position located in Boston, MA.  However, candidates who could work from our office in Chicago, IL, are also encouraged to apply.

Qualifications Required and Preferred:

Previous experience with patent prosecution, office actions, and working in a fast-paced law firm environment is preferred. This position offers extensive professional development and mentor support in a team culture. Candidates should have excellent academic credentials, strong writing and communication skills, practical critical-thinking skills, and the desire and ability to work across various technologies.

A strong scientific background and Ph.D. in a relevant life sciences discipline (e.g., molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, and immunology) are required. For technical professionals, and for those applying as registered Patent Agents, the desire to take the patent bar exam is desired but not required. Lathrop GPM has a very generous law school tuition assistance program to offer our employees that are interested in becoming Patent Attorneys as well.

Must possess the following outstanding skills and attributes:

  • Great communication skills (verbal and written);
  • Collaborative team player able to work well with others;
  • Self-motivated; and
  • Understanding of project and process management.
