The Patent Quality Chat webinar series continues on Tuesday, Feb. 9, from noon – 1 p.m. ET.
This month’s topic will be First Inventor to File (FITF) Patent Prosecution, hosted by USPTO FITF experts Kathleen Fonda, from the Office of Patent Legal Administration (OPLA), and Tom Hughes, from the Office of Patent Quality Assurance (OPQA).
The February presenters will share some FITF statistics about filings and prosecution since FITF went into effect nearly three years ago. Moreover, they will present some helpful tips concerning identifying the America Invents Act (AIA) status of your application, invoking prior art exceptions during prosecution, and getting more help with application-specific questions. They look forward to hearing your ideas on ways to help applicants with the prosecution of their FITF applications. This chat will be the second in the 2016 series of webinars on various aspects of patent quality and are a part of the Enhanced Patent Quality Initiative (EPQI).
Scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month, the Patent Quality Chats are a lunchtime webinar series that provides information on various patent quality topics and continues the dialogue between the USPTO and its stakeholders about enhancing patent quality. Each webinar session lasts about one hour.
