“Freedom to Operate Searching Techniques – Basic to Advance Strategies” (CLE Pending)

What steps should be taken when conducting a freedom-to-operate search? This presentation covers some of the basic and advanced strategies that have been used by IP professionals who are tasked with evaluating potential risk of patent infringement at various stages of product development, from R&D to commercialization. Claim language considerations, use of class codes, and special features like semantic concept extraction will be covered.

The webinar will cover the following topics and more:

General searching techniques
Optimizing search queries with proximity operators, focusing on fields of interest and specific date ranges.

Receiving a Freedom to Operate Search Request
Handling requests and conducting a suitable scoping interview to understand key invention features.

Search Strategy Formulation
Determining the best parameters for a manageable and relevant search result – product life cycle, semantics, keywords, classifications, and other considerations, including claims construction and evaluation of claims validity.

How to identify inventions claiming technology your company or client would like to use/sell, as well as reviewing evolution of claims from application to publication to grant.

Setting up automatic alerts as project progresses through product lifecycle.
