The European patent system is about to undergo unprecedented change.
In just a few months the unitary patent and the Unified Patent Court (UPC) could take effect in up to 27 EU member states. The result will be a patent covering a single jurisdiction with a total population of more than 420 million people, encompassing four G8 economies and a number of other highly developed, sophisticated markets. There is every chance that over the coming years, Europe will replace – or at least begin to rival – the United States as the world’s number one venue for big-ticket patent litigation.
At Inside Europe’s New Patent Market – taking place in San Francisco on February 18 2016 and specifically designed for US entities and their advisers – experts will consider the main issues for plaintiffs and defendants once the system comes into effect, as well as how they should be preparing now.
The event will allow delegates to hear from and join the conversation with individuals from organisations such as IBM, Microsoft, Ericsson, Intel and the European Patent Office, as well as a number of leading European private practice lawyers, attorneys, aggregators and intermediaries.
No other conference on the unitary patent and the UPC taking place in the United States offers the opportunity to access this level of expertise.
