Adebambo Adewopo

Adebambo Adewopo is a leading intellectual property scholar in Nigeria. Professor Adewopo holds the first distinguished Intellectual Property (IP) Chair at the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS). Prior to taking up the IP chair at NIALS, he was appointed by the Federal Government of Nigeria as Director General of the Nigerian Copyright Commission where he served between 2004 and 2010. Prior to the national assignment, he pioneered teaching and research in IP law at the Faculty of Law, Lagos State University (LASU) where he rose to senior lecturer. In 2017, he was conferred with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), the highest rank of the legal profession in Nigeria (Nigerian equivalent of QC). He is the first IP academic so conferred.
