Sean Sullivan serves as Lead Intellectual Property Counsel for 4Catalyer, a startup accelerator dedicated to maximizing societal impact. Founded by serial entrepreneur Jonathan Rothberg, 4Catalyzer supports a family of medical imaging, DNA and protein sequencing, pharmaceutical development, protein evolution and home-based diagnostic testing companies with strategic, administrative, legal, financial, HR and IT resources to accelerate their programs. Sean directs the internal intellectual property function for each of the 4C operating companies, highlighted by the successful initial public offerings in 2021 of Butterfly Network (ultrasound), Quantum-Si (protein/DNA sequencing), and Hyperfine (portable MRI).
Prior to joining 4Catalyzer, was a partner at a Hartford, Connecticut-based IP boutique law firm, where he led the firm’s largest client team in filing an average of 1,000 patent applications annually over a three-year period. Sean earned a BS of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, and a JD from Western New England University. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut and the USPTO.
