Sudhish Swain

Sudhish Swain is a rising senior in the magnet program at Montgomery Blair High School. Sudhish has been interested in improving the lives of people around the world since middle school, and his work on computationally modeling the effects of low-dose chemotherapy on cancer metabolism won him a grand award at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Dallas, TX 2023.

Sudhish is interested in data science and math modeling, having competed in a variety of competitions including the Modeling the Future Challenge, where he is a two-time semifinalist, and the High School Mathematical Contest in Modeling, where he won honorable mention two times. Sudhish was also part of the team which won the global prize for the Indus Entrepreneurs Young Entrepreneurs Challenge.

Sudhish is a sports editor and videographer for his school’s online publication Silver Chips Online. He is also the founder of the Introduction to Coding Club at his school which encourages STEM education among minority groups at his school. Sudhish has published multiple papers and has presented his work on water purification using ultraviolet radiation from a household microwave oven at several conferences including the International UV Association’s (IUVA) annual conference where he won the RadLaunch award to promote STEM in high school. He is part of his school’s First Robotics Challenge (FRC) Robotics Team, #449 where he is a programmer. Previously, he competed in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) as part of Team #9794 Wizards.exe, where he won numerous awards and qualified for the World Championships in each year of competition.
