LESI Selects Dana Robert Colarulli As New Executive Director

September 25, 2019 – The Licensing Executives Society International (LESI) announces the appointment of Dana Robert Colarulli as its new Executive Director. Dana is based in Washington, DC. His main tasks include helping LESI to implement its strategy, building relationships with other relevant organisations, expanding the membership base, developing the association’s educational offering and support its National Presidents and Societies and the LESI  committees.

Dana comes to LESI as an accomplished IP professional with a great depth of experience in the business of IP, both in the US and internationally. Most recently, he served as the Director of the Office of Governmental Affairs at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as well as a member of the agency’s Executive Committee, positions he held for nearly ten years.

Prior to his government service, Dana led government relations efforts and facilitated policy discussions at the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO).  Dana is well regarded by the intellectual property community.

LESI President Fiona Nicolson said, “We are absolutely delighted that Dana has decided to join us. Never has the business of IP been more important globally, and with his wide range of experience and connections internationally, we are sure that Dana will add considerable value to our organisation.” Nicolson continued, “LESI has a very busy year ahead as we prioritise our society membership from industry in key areas such as high tech, life sciences and chemicals. We are also rolling out our key educational offerings globally such as our Advanced Licensing Course, which is a joint initiative with the EPO. We also continue to build our communities, including our Young Members Congress and new Women in Licensing Alliance, both of which are going from strength to strength. With Dana’s support, we hope to make substantial progress in all of these areas before our next Annual Meeting in Berlin in May 2020.”

Dana Colarulli said “LESI and its members understand that the value of IP is often defined by the ability to effectively enforce and license these assets. I have focused much of my career building and supporting effective IP systems from the private sector and from within government. I am excited to join the LESI team and lend my skills to create more opportunities to support professionals throughout the world through education, networking and collaboration on these critical issues.”
