IPW Webinar: Drug Repositioning and Lifecycle Management: A Solid-Form Patent Strategy

The solid-state structure of an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) can profoundly affect its properties.  Consider, for example, drug delivery.  In order for an orally dosed medicament to have biological efficacy, it must release the API in vivo for transport to the target.  If the solubility of the API is too low, there will be insufficient API for efficacy.  If the…

IPW Webinar – Patenting Software in Canada – Why Things Have Gotten a Lot Easier

CLS Bank in 2014 that has not been the case. And…

IPW Webinar – Benchmarking IP Operations and Managing Data

For an intellectual property law firm failure is not an option. A single mistake can bankrupt a firm and lead to hundreds of millions, or billions of dollars, lost. The magnitude of what is at stake often leads IP firms to be conservative with respect to management and adoption of new technologies and procedures. Nevertheless, in 2020 the big data…

IPW Webinar – Exploring Software Patentability before the European Patent Office (EPO)

Webinar Sponsored By: Once upon a time, prior to Alice, the best, most available software protection in the world was available in the United States. Today, with uncertainty surrounding the abstract nature of software, the U.S. has taken a backseat to Europe. Join Gene Quinn, President & CEO of IPWatchdog, Inc. and noted software patent expert, for this wide-ranging discussion…

IPW Webinar – Myths of Litigated Patents

Webinar Sponsored By: Conventional wisdom argues that litigation is a tax on innovation, and the PTO plays a role due to high grant rates. Accordingly, it is important to know: 1.  Which patent examiners are issuing litigated patents 2.  Are examiners who are “rubber-stamping” patents issuing litigated patents at a disproportionately higher rate 3.  Are examiners with less experience issuing…

Panelists Urge Americans to Trust IP, Trust Vaccines, Listen to Science in COVID-19 Debate

IPWatchdog’s most recent webinar focused on the role of IP in the development of the most promising vaccines to combat COVID-19 and included speakers from the medical community, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the biopharmaceutical industry. The upshot was: wear masks, get the vaccine when it’s available to you, trust the FDA, and stop targeting IP rights, since there’s no evidence they have hindered the process and, in fact, IP has so far played a crucial role in collaboration efforts.

Apply to Speak or Sponsor: IPWatchdog is Accepting Proposals for SEP2020

As COVID-19 reaches into its sixth month in the United States, life has changed dramatically. Due to the pandemic, our CON2020 has been canceled and we have pivoted to present the panel discussions in a sponsor-supported free online series that will roll out throughout the month of September. The COVID-19 pandemic has also forced the decision to cancel our live SEP2020 program, which was to take place in Arlington, Virginia. Instead, we will once again pivot and present the panel discussions in a free online series. SEP2020 will be made up of a free online series of panels over three days: November 3, 10 & 17. These sponsor-supported panels are free to attend, and registration is open. We are well underway with plans for SEP2020, but we are looking for additional speakers.

Several years ago, in an attempt to provide greater privacy protections for citizens, the European Union (EU) transformed the Internet in some respects when it passed the General Data Protection Regulation, known as the GDPR. You’ve seen the proliferation of websites all over the world that require users to accept policies with every visit to a new website, or every…
