Kacvinsky Daisak Bluni PLLC (KDB) announces the arrival of experienced New York mechanical arts patent lawyer, Giuseppe Molaro, as principal. Molaro joins KDB from New York-based Leviton Manufacturing, where he served as senior intellectual property counsel since 2010. He specializes in patent prosecution and due diligence in the mechanical arts.

Mr. Solomita is an experienced patent litigator who has led major cases before US District Courts and the US International Trade Commission. He defends large technology clients from patent claims, and he also has significant experience prosecuting patent applications and challenging the validity of patents before the US Patent and Trademark Office. Prior to joining Sheppard Mullin, Mr. Solomita worked at an IP boutique, during which he was twice seconded to work as in-house patent counsel for Panasonic Corporation in Japan.

Fish & Richardson announced today that C. Eric Schulman, formerly the Head of Intellectual Property (IP) for Uber Technologies, Inc., has joined the firm’s Silicon Valley office as a Principal in its Patent group. Before Uber, Schulman spent more than nine years in-house at Google Inc., where he served most recently as Legal Director. He brings to Fish a broad range of experience including expertise in patent and trademark portfolio development, IP licensing and acquisition, patent post-grant proceedings, patent and trademark litigation, standards bodies, copyright, open source, M&A, commercial transactions, collaborative structures, broad IP strategy, and legal management.

Morgan is experienced in managing and maintaining domestic and international trademark portfolios and regularly counsels clients on brand selection, clearance and strategy. She represents clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and manages all aspects of enforcing intellectual property rights, including prosecuting and defending actions before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, protecting intellectual property with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and representing clients in Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy proceedings. She is also experienced in negotiating and drafting a variety of intellectual property-related agreements, including assignment, license, co-existence and settlement agreements.

Mr. Donald Dunner, a partner in Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP in Washington, D.C. has accepted JMLS’ offer to chair the Advisory Board of the School’s Center for Intellectual Property, Information and Privacy Law. VLP Law Group LLP has announced that Edward Kwok has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group as a partner based in Silicon Valley, California. Prior to joining VLP, Mr. Kwok was a Partner with Hogan Lovells US LLP. Mr. Kwok’s practice focuses on patent prosecution and Inter Partes adverse proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and intellectual property litigations in state and federal courts.

National intellectual property firm Kacvinsky Daisak Bluni PLLC recently expanded its legal team in the Washington, D.C. area with the arrivals of experienced IP lawyers, Judith L. Toffenetti, PhD and Paul Skwierawski. Toffenetti joins as a partner, bringing decades of experience in life sciences and biotechnology. Skwierawski joins as counsel, focusing on prosecution of medical portables and construction equipment technologies. Their arrivals mark KDB’s fifth and sixth hires within a year.

Shontavia Johnson, professor of law and the Kern Family Chair in Intellectual Property Law, took over as director of Drake Law School’s Intellectual Property Law Center on July 1.

Orrick announced that James Pooley, a world-renowned intellectual property lawyer and authority in the area of trade secrets law, has joined the firm as senior counsel. He will be based in the Silicon Valley office. As a pioneer in intellectual property law for more than three decades, Jim adds to Orrick’s top-ranking IP bench a seasoned first-chair trial lawyer, scholar, author and global diplomat. In April, he was the only American to be inducted this year into the IP Hall of Fame. Jim’s leadership in the IP bar included a five-year term as Deputy Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva, where he served as the senior American officer and managed the international patent system.

Cozen O’Connor, an Am Law 100 firm, announced that it has finalized a deal to add a team of lawyers from Miami-based Feldman Gale, a nationally recognized intellectual property boutique. The lawyers have started working in Cozen O’Connor’s Intellectual Property Department across its Miami, New York and San Francisco offices.
